When you’re thinking about something to buy for a guy, think about his interest, what sort of things does he like to do for fun? Does he have any hobbies? You don’t have to be very creative, it’s pretty easy to make a guy happy. If you don’t know what his interests are, look around his house or his cubicle, what do you see? Are there posters or memorabilia from sports teams? What about favorite movies? Does he like gadgets (what guy doesn’t?). What sort of music?

What guy doesn’t like electronics? If you can’t find anything else, you can NEVER go wrong with electronics. What sort of gadgets do men like? Obviously, the hottest Christmas gift item for this year is new Apple Ipads, but if that’s too expensive for you, there are also other Tablet PCs that are coming out from the major manufacturers. Other hot items for 2011 include the new Windows 7 Phones, Media Center PCs, and LED TVs.

Windows 7 Phones are phones that use the latest operating system for mobile phones, it’s been redone from scratch so you should expect simplicity like Iphones, but without being as expensive, Iphone are typically $400 with contract while you can probably get Windows 7 Phones for free with contract.

Media Center PCs are computers that are built for media, they’ll allow you to stream Netflix or MP3s from your main computer and all HTPC should have wireless internet as well as connections to your high definition system. If you’ve been to the theater in the last year, you’ll notice lots of 3D movies. TV makers know this is the next big thing so just about every manufacturer is coming out with

3D TVs – This year and the film companies are remastering old movies with 3d video. If the guy already has a TV that supports 3D, but doesn’t have any movies or glasses, maybe you could get him a Samsung 3D Starter Kit.

*Side note – technically, any TV with 240 Hz refresh rate should be able to handle most 3D movies, so if his not really interested in watching 3D movies at the moment, but want to be prepared, look for a TV with 240 Hz refresh rate. So in the future (like next year), you can get him a 3D Starter Kit. Plasma TVs are dirty cheap now (even the big ones above 50 inches), but if you want something thin and consumes less power, you could look at LED TVs or LCD TVs.
